Enjoyed this post (and as an Amazonian they definitely resonate.) I’d add update status on a regular cadence eg every two weeks if on track or weekly if not and call out risks early to avoid surprise changes from on track to missed.

Great post! It’s a handy reference to bookmark. Couple of topics that come to mind related to goals are- 1) input vs output goals and 2) best practices on reporting of goal status.

It would also be helpful to elaborate on the OKR framework. In my mind, OKRs bring more visibility to the steps to meet a goal and help in goal setting to test reasonableness of the goal and also help keep execution focus. Thoughts?

Good suggestions. I wanted to keep the post relatively concise so didn't go into more depth on input vs. output or other topics relating to managing to goals (vs. goal setting). I may discuss those in a future post, especially the goal status piece and the "path to green" concept.

I'm conflicted about the ORK framework. I think there are many good pieces to it but the notion that you've achieved a goal if you meet 70% of it never made sense to me.
